Castle Combe — A living village, cared for by its community
Castle Combe Collective brings together residents, landowners and neighbours who care about life in the village and the countryside around it. We help support community life, look after the By Brook valley and local environment, and keep a watchful eye on planning matters that could affect Castle Combe's future. Different jobs, same purpose: keeping this a good place to live, not just a good place to visit.
Castle Combe is a living village — home to families, businesses and a community that cares deeply about its future. It's not simply a backdrop or a destination; it's a place shaped by the people who live here, from the neighbours who keep the churchyard tidy to those who run the village hall, organise the fete, or spend a Saturday clearing the brook.
It also sits within a designated conservation area and countryside of real ecological value — protections that matter, but that only mean something because people here choose to care for this place day to day.
The Collective exists to support that care in all its forms: helping organise community activity, looking after the local environment, and — when needed — making sure residents have a clear, informed voice on planning matters that could affect the village.
The Conservation Area

The By Brook & its valley
The By Brook, its water meadows and wooded valley setting — a landscape of high ecological and scenic value, with nationally recognised environmental protection.
