Life in the village
Castle Combe is a small place, but it doesn't stop being lived in once the visitors go home. Behind the postcard streets is an ordinary village rhythm — church on Sundays, a market in the hall, a churchyard that needs tidying twice a year, neighbours who help each other out. This page is where we try to reflect that.
Church
At St Andrew's Church
St Andrew's sits at the heart of the village on Market Place, and its door is open every day of the year. Two Sunday services are held each month, at 11am: a Holy Communion service on the first Sunday, and a Family service on the third — with refreshments afterwards, often the easiest moment in the week to catch up with neighbours. Larger services take place at Christmas, Easter and on Remembrance Sunday, including a traditional Carol Service.
The church is looked after by its Parochial Church Council, whose work ranges from the practical — spring cleaning, an autumn churchyard tidy, flower arranging — to fundraising events through the year. Weddings, baptisms and funerals are also held at St Andrew's; anyone interested should contact the Benefice Office (bybrook.office@gmail.com) or the church directly on 01249 782704.

In the Village Hall
The Village Hall is where a lot of Castle Combe's community life actually happens — a versatile space used for everything from private parties and celebrations to meetings and workshops. It's also home to the Castle Combe Market, a craft and produce market held on selected dates through the year, with handmade goods, homemade cakes and a chance to support local makers.
Volunteering & working parties
Much of village life runs on people simply turning up: churchyard tidies at St Andrew's, help around events at the hall, or an occasional working party along the By Brook. If you'd like to be told when help is needed, the Collective's mailing list is a good way to hear about it — see Get Involved.
